Barbara Matera was a leading costume maker in New York. Her company, Barbara Matera Ltd., started in 1968 and for five decades dressed the casts of the New York City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, movies, and Broadway shows. It takes many sets of hands to create these types of costumes.
